In the expansion of the eGift Service, giftee Inc, Japan (hereinafter referred as giftee, headquartered in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo led by representative directors Mutsumi Ota and Tatsuya Suzuki ), and Giftee Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (hereinafter referred to as Giftee Malaysia), a subsidiary in Malaysia, are pleased to announce the incorporation of “PT giftee International Indonesia” (hereinafter referred to as Giftee Indonesia) and the commencement of full-scale operations from 28th October 2022. Indonesia is the third country in Southeast Asia, that giftee has ventured into after Malaysia and Vietnam.
giftee inc. was established in August 2010 and hails from Japan. The representative directors are Mutsumi Ota and Tatsuya Suzuki. giftee inc. offers four services for consumers and businesses - giftee-C2C gift service, eGift System, giftee for business and eMachi Platform.
giftee, as part of its growth strategy, has been working on the geographical expansion of its business model to overseas markets. Hence, in October 2018, it announced the incorporation of Giftee Malaysia to launch the eGift Service in ASEAN. Thereafter, in July 2021, Giftee Mekong was established in Socialist Republic of Vietnam as a joint venture between Giftee Malaysia and Mekong Communication Corporation, a local Vietnamese independent Marcom Agency and has since commenced operations. Both Giftee Malaysia and Giftee Mekong focus on two main services: “eGift Service” which provides issuance and distribution of “eGifts ” - digital vouchers for F&B, retail brands, etc; and “giftee for Business” a corporate service that provides eGifts as incentives for digital campaigns.
This time around, giftee, with Giftee Malaysia has set up Giftee Indonesia, making it the 3rd overseas operation following Malaysia and Vietnam. With a population of approximately 270 million, Indonesia has the largest population of any Southeast Asian country. The economy has maintained an annual growth rate of 5-7%, with private consumption accounting for more than 50% of GDP which is expected to grow at a high rate of 4.7% in 2022 and 5.0% in 2023, close to the level before the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the Indonesian government has taken the lead in driving digitalisation, with a national internet usage rate of approximately 73% and prides itself for holding the largest volume of e-commerce and e-wallet payments in South East Asia (see DATEREPORTAL「DIGITAL 2021：INDONESIA). This social landscape augurs well with eGifting, making it a very attractive market for new entrants. giftee has also signed a capital and business alliance agreement with TADA Network PTE.LTD. (Head office: Singapore / CEO: Antonius Taufan / hereinafter referred to as TADA Network PTE), which provides end-to-end development and operations for reward and loyalty platform “TADA” . The investment into TADA Network PTE has been concluded and completed in April 2021.For Indonesia, which is the focus market of TADA Network PTE in South East Asia, our collaboration spans in multi-angles such as business development of eGifts issuing brands and eGift distributors, various areas in loyalty and reward programs and providing solutions that combine with eGifts. Against this backdrop, giftee has decided to set up a subsidiary in Indonesia, as its third overseas operations to develop new markets.
Similarly like in Malaysia and Vietnam, Giftee Indonesia shall focus on two main areas of business: to provide “eGift System” that enables the conversion and distribution of products as “eGifts” - digital vouchers in F&B and retail industry; and “giftee for Business” as sale of eGifts to corporations in Indonesia to be used as incentives or rewards in various digital marketing activities. giftee and Giftee Malaysia will work to expand eGift Services in Indonesia by utilising the experience and knowledge accumulated collectively across Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam.
Giftee Indonesia will accelerate its efforts to develop the market, raise awareness of eGifting and maximize distribution volume, with the aim of creating a culture and custom of casual eGifting in Indonesia. giftee and Giftee Malaysia will continue to promote the geographical expansion of the eGift Platform Business and seek new overseas markets in addition to Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia.
